Peter W. Moyer
Peter W. Moyer started his career in Philadelphia as an editor on The Mike Douglas Show. While at KYW-TV, Peter won Emmy awards for art direction and editing and worked as technical director on Live Aid and as a slo-motion operator for numerous sporting events, including the 1984 Summer Olympics. Recruited by the Post Group in 1987, Moyer moved west, where he became visual effects editor on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Mission: Impossible and The Flash and numerous award-winning music videos. Moyer’s work on Pee-wee’s Playhouse earned him a third Emmy award. Becoming vice president of postproduction in 1990, Peter spearheaded the formation of the Digital Film Group, a resolution independent visual effects compositing division within the Post Group. In 1995, Moyer formed Digital FilmWorks, a premier full-service motion picture effects facility. To meet the ever-changing needs of the visual effects industry, Moyer cofounded Digital FilmTools in 2001 and Silhouette FX in 2003, which specialize in the development of visual effects software. An active member of the Television Academy for over 20 years, Moyer is also a member of the Visual Effects Society and SMPTE.
Mark Scott Spatny
After graduating from USC with a B.F.A., Mark Spatny began his career in live theater, designing scenery and lighting for performance venues around the southland. Drafting scenery on his computer led to designing games for educational software companies, and ultimately to creating visual effects for the big and small screens. A four-time Primetime Emmy nominee and two-time winner with 15 years in computer graphics, Spatny is currently supervising producer for Stargate Studios in South Pasadena. His recent credits include working as a VFX producer and supervisor on four seasons of the NBC series Heroes, as well as High School Musical 3, Nightmares and Dreamscapes and many other film and television productions. Spatny has worked hard to bring recognition to the digital artists behind the scenes by helping create the Visual Effects Society Awards. He has served as co-chair of the awards for several years.
